Bestie weekend + Helix piercing

This last weekend I had some catch-up time with one of my best friends Caroline. We had not seen each-other in a whole year (?!) She's been on an adventure, working more than 6 months in Thailand as a snorkling and diving instructor. Later this month she's leaving to work in Norway and later this year she's going back to Thailand. For me she is sunshine and an endless source of energy and inspiration. The last day with Caroline, I impulsed a Helix piercing... I've actually been thinking about it for a while and I told myself that (if I end up not liking it); for one it's not permanent like a tattoo and two- live in the moment! I had one of the best weekends in a long time and I added another jewelry situation to my life (thinking delicate gold hoop?). x S.

  2. Sounds like good times! I've been thinking of getting that piercing too but I never get around to it! Was it painful?

    1. Hi Hélène! First of all, thank you for your comment! It was a great weekend! :)

To be honest I did not know I was going to do it when we went in. I just wanted to get some information but then just decided then and there, why not? haha Something I was nerveous and had heard rumours about concerned nerve damage like- not being able to feel half your face, kind of thing. But as the expert told me, there is no risk of that when you get your helix pierced. After that I was good to go, more or less.

As for the pain. On me they used a gun and I've heard others say that they usually use a needle for the helix. Though, I have to say, I'm glad they used a gun cause I did not really feel any pain, it felt like a hard pinch more or less. Directly afterwards I felt a kind of burning//warm/stinging sensation but nothing unbearable.

Right now it feels like I have a bruise on the top half of my ear so I keep from sleeping on my left side, otherwise nothing bad to say about the experience. I'd say that a good thing is to check comments and ratings of the piercing place beforehand, I did just in case. Also I was fortunate enough to have my friend with me who has her helix pierced and the girl who did the piercing also had hers done so both could give me suggestions and advise of placement, does & don'ts etc. :)

Sorry for the really looong response, haha but hope I answered your question! And good luck if you decide to do it! :D

      xx Sara

  4. Thanks so much for taking the time to give me all that info about the helix piercing! It's def reassuring to know that it's not so bad in terms of discomfort. I think i might just do it next time i pass by my local tatoo/piercing shop...
